Win Cash & Prizes In Sweepstakes & Contests

Did you know literally millions of dollars in cash and prizes are given away to Americans in the form of sweepstakes and contests each year?

Fancy winning a few of these prizes?

If you do, read on... and before you think, "I never win anything," read this true story of mine...

How My 7 Year Old Boy Won His First Prize - An Xbox Games Console

A few years ago, my eldest son, who was seven at the time, entered a McDonald's Happy Meal coloring contest.

Now let us be frank - he is no Picasso. :-) But when he asked me to send in his drawing, I immediately said yes.

I wanted to show him that anything is possible if you give it a go because you can only win if you try.

So I popped his drawing into an envelope while he was watching. I wrote the address and put a stamp on the envelope.

We later drove to the local post box and got out of the car. I picked him up with the envelope in his hand. He popped the envelope into the post box.

He seemed happy. But his mom and I never thought in a million years he would win anything. There must be thousands of kids across Australia entering every McDonald's Happy Meal coloring contest.

Imagine our surprise when a few months later we got a call informing us that our son had won one of the top 10 major prizes, which was an Xbox Connect video games console! What luck! We were so happy for our son. :-)

My son learnt a valuable lesson very early on in his life. If you give it a go, you may just succeed. And he did. :-)

So give it a go! You never know your luck. Somebody has to win all those prizes on offer. Why not you, or your partner, or your son, or your daughter?

Super-lucky Mom Quits Her Job To Enter Competitions Full-Time: "I've Won £250,000 In Prizes!"

She spends two hours a day, entering 400 sweepstakes and contests a week. For her efforts, she wins at least £15,000 (~$20,000) worth of prizes per year.

Here are a few of the prizes Di has won over the 18 years she has been entering sweepstakes and contests:

What Is The Difference Between A Sweepstake And A Contest?

A sweepstake selects a winner or winners at random. No skill is required to enter, so attract more entries, but offer a smaller chance of winning.

A contest requires some skill. For example, a photographic contest would judge your ability to take a great photo. Generally, less people enter contests, so your chances of winning a prize are greater.

A contest is harder to enter, but offer a greater chance of winning because typically fewer people enter.

Top 3 Sweepstakes Tips

  1. Open a new, free (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) email account. Use that email to enter contests and sweepstakes. This prevents your personal email from receiving lots of contest and sweepstake spam emails.
  2. Check this email account often because winners are often notified by email.
  3. Enter contests and sweepstakes by local businesses because they typically have less entries and therefore offer a greater chance of winning a prize.

Save Hours With This One Piece Of Software

The most repetitive part of entering contests and sweepstakes is having to type in your contact details on dozens, hundreds, even thousands of entry forms.

Thankfully, I have something that will save you a ton of time.

RoboForm (http://c1ick.me/roboform) is a popular password manager. Its form filling feature that automatically fills in those long, tedious entry forms with your contact details with one click of a button will save you hours and hours.

Once you enter your name, address, telephone, email, etc., into RoboForm, and click save, you will never need to type that information into a web form again.

Whenever you encounter an online entry form, simply click the Identity button on the toolbar, and RoboForm will enter your details into the form for you.

You can use RoboForm's form filling feature on any Windows PC, Mac computer, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.

You can download and use RoboForm for FREE!

Upgrading for additional features, such as cloud backup, costs $19.95 for 1 year, $53.85 for 3 years, and $84.75 for 5 years, for an individual. There is also a Family plan for up to five users.

RoboForm is rated:

  • 4.25/5 (640+ reviews) - 82% of reviewers recommend RoboForm on Reviews.io.
  • 8.4/10 (55+ reviews) on TrustPilot.

Visit the RoboForm's Form Filler page (http://c1ick.me/roboform) for more information.

Do You Have To Pay Taxes On Prizes?

If you win cash, a holiday, or merchandise in a swepstake or contest, you have to pay income tax, possibly even state tax.

If you win a prize valued at $600 or more, the sweepstake or contest sponsor must report the value to the IRS on a Form 1099-MISC (http://c1ick.us/irs-form1099).

For more information about paying taxes on winnings, read the "Sweepstakes Taxes: What You Need to Know If You've Won Prizes" article (http://c1ick.us/thebalanceeveryday-sweepstakestaxes) on The Balance Everyday website.

If you have any tax related questions, contact the IRS or consult with a tax professional.

Idea: I wonder if one could go full time entering sweepstakes and contests, and claim the usual business expenses on tax returns. ;-)
