The 2022 holiday season will soon be upon us. Retailers and other companies are gearing up by hiring some 761,000 seasonal workers to cope with the expected holiday shopping demand.

There are National Hiring Events going on today and in the coming weeks, so check the dates to avoid disappointment!

1. 1-800-Flowers: 8,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit 1800flowersjobs):

  • 1-800-Flowers are hiring 8,000 seasonal employees across its family of gourmet food brands; Harry & David, Cheryl's Cookies and The Popcorn Factory.
  • Available positions vary by brand and include full-time and part-time roles in production, gift assembly, retail stores, and call center, distribution and fulfillment center operations.
  • Most of the seasonal roles are being offered in Illinois, Ohio and Oregon.
  • You may be considered for permanent positions once the holidays are over.

2. Amazon: 120,000 Expected Seasonal Jobs (Visit amazonjobs):

  • Amazon are expected to hire 120,000 seasonal workers for the holiday season. They haven't announced the details yet. I'll add it here as soon as they're announced.
  • $15 per hour minimum wage for all US employees, starting November 1.

3. American Eagle Outfitters: 22,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit americaneaglejobs):

  • American Eagle Outfitters are hiring 22,000 part-time seasonal associates for its American Eagle and Aerie brands.
  • Hiring event in the U.S. and Canada will take place at AE and Aerie stores on Sunday, October 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in local time zones.
  • Perks:
    • 40% merchandise discount.
    • Eligible for special contests, giveaways and prizes.

4. Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s: 7,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit bassprojobs, Visit cabelasjobs):

  • Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s are hiring 7,000 seasonal workers for the holiday shopping season.
  • Seasonal positions are available in retail locations, restaurants, contact centers, distribution centers and boat dealerships.
  • National hiring event on Thursday, October 18.
  • Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's locations across the US and Canada will conduct on-site interviews during normal business hours (except Bass Pro Shops World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada, Florida).

  • Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are hiring 25,000 associates for its 15,000 stores across 48 states and 5 Canadian provinces.
  • Nationwide Hiring Event at every Dollar Tree and Family Dollar store on Wednesday, October 17, where interviews will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time.
  • Permanent full-time and part-time openings for store managers, assistant store managers, cashiers and stocking associates, as well as seasonal holiday help.

6. FedEx: 55,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit fedexjobs):

  • FedEx are hiring 55,000 seasonal workers nationwide this holiday season.
  • Seasonal jobs include drivers, freight handlers, maintenance technicians and retail associates who deal with the public at its stores.

7. GameStop: 15,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit gamestopjobs):

  • GameStop, the world's largest video game retailer, are recruiting 15,000 retail sales positions within its 3,800 GameStop video game and 40 ThinkGeek pop culture US store locations for the 2022 holiday season.
  • 400 warehouse positions are within its two distribution centers based in Grapevine, Texas, and Louisville, Kentucky.
  • Seasonal jobs begin October 21 to January 8.
  • Many seasonal hires will become permanent associates.
  • Each position will offer part-time, flexible work schedules during the week that include the potential for up to 10-25 hours of work weeknights, weekends and days.
  • 15% discount at GameStop, Spring Mobile, Simply Mac and ThinkGeek stores and online.

8. Gap: 65,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit gapjobs):

  • Gap Inc., are hiring 65,000 seasonal associates for its Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy stores, as well as call centers and distribution centers for the 2022 holiday season.
  • Seasonal positions vary by location but include serving customers on the sales floor at Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy stores.
  • Non-store positions can involve coordinating shipments from its distribution centers to stores, fulfilling customers' orders from online, via mobile or in store, and handling calls at customer call centers.
  • Perks:
    • 50% off regular-priced merchandise at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy stores.

  • JCPenny are hiring 39,000 seasonal associates nationwide across stores, supply chain and customer care centers
  • National Hiring Day will take place in its 860 stores on October 16 from 2 p.m to 8 p.m., local time.
  • Management will hold in-person interviews and make employment offers to qualified candidates on-the-spot.
  • Reward packages to 8 randomly drawn associates will include the choice of $5,000 trips to Banff, Alberta, Canada; New York City; or Miami – all three of which include paid lodging, airfare and entertainment – or prize packages worth $5,000, each with a different theme, including smart home, outdoor, technology and glamor bundles.

  • Kohl's are hiring 90,000 seasonal associates across its more than 1,100 stores, 9 distribution centers, 5 ecommerce fulfillment centers and credit centers nationwide.
  • You're paid weekly.
  • Hiring events will take place on Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, at select Kohl’s stores across the country.
  • Perks:

11. Macy's: 80,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit macysjobs, Visit bloomingdalesjobs):

  • Macy's are hiring 80,000 mostly part-time, seasonal colleagues for its Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores, call centers, distribution centers and online fulfillment centers nationwide for the 2022 holiday season.
  • You'll serve customers on the selling floor and work in store operations positions, including fulfilling buy online pick-up-in-store orders and buy online ship-to-store orders. National hiring event will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., in local time zones.
  • Visit your local Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s Backstage stores, as well as the company’s call centers and distribution and fulfillment centers.
  • 23,500 of the 80,000 jobs will be based in:
    • direct-to-consumer fulfillment facilities, located in megacenters in:
      • Cheshire, CT
      • Goodyear, AZ
      • Portland, TN
      • Martinsburg, WV

    • product-specific fulfillment centers in:
      • Joppa, MD

  • 1,500 jobs are to interact with customers via telephone, email and online chat at customer service centers in Mason, OH; Clearwater, FL; and Tempe, AZ.
  • 1,000 people will be hired across the country to support the 92nd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santalands and other iconic holiday events.

12. Michaels: 15,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit michaelsjobs):

  • Michaels, North America’s largest arts and crafts specialty retailer, are hiring 15,000 seasonal positions across its 1,200 US and Canadian stores and distribution centers, across 49 states in the US and Canada, for the 2022 holiday season.
  • Flexible hours.

  • Last year, Michaels hired more than 40% of seasonal positions into regular roles following the holidays.

13. Sears: 1000s of Seasonal Jobs (Visit searsjobs):

  • Sears have thousands of seasonal part-time positions for retail sales, customer service and warehouse jobs across the United States.
  • At the time of writing, their website show:
    • 1,124 Kmart jobs
    • 968 Sears jobs
    • 2,009 part-time jobs
    • 111 full-time jobs

14. Target: 120,000 Seasonal Jobs (Visit targetjobs):

  • Target are hiring 120,000 seasonal team members across its 1,839 stores and 39 distribution centers for the 2022 holiday season.
  • 7,500 positions in fulfillment and distribution centers.
  • $12+ per hour minimum.
  • Opportunity to earn holiday pay on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Flexible schedules.
  • Hiring events at all stores nationwide from Friday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Perks:

  • UPS are hiring 100,000 seasonal employees to support the anticipated increase in package volume that will begin in November and continue through January 2022.
  • Jobs are primarily package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers.
  • Full-time and part-time positions at thousands of locations.
  • Flexible shifts.
  • Over the last three years, 35% of the people UPS hired for seasonal package handler jobs were later hired in a permanent position when the holidays were over.
  • At many UPS locations, part-time employees are eligible to receive up to $25,000 in tuition assistance through the company’s Earn and Learn program.
